We’ve been lucky enough to gain 7 NODA award nominations for two of the shows we’ve done over the past year and for various cast who appeared in them.
The nominations are for:
Best Youth Show:
Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat directed by Lisa Summers and Laura Catterall
Best Show:
The Sound of Music directed and choreographed by Lisa Summers, Assisted by Laura Catterall
Performance Award (Youth category):
Eilidh Campbell aged 17 for her performance as a Lead Narrator in Joseph
Matty Forster aged 16 for his performance as Pharoah in Joseph
Morgan Flannigan aged 15 for his performance as Joseph in Joseph
Performance Award (Adult category):
Nicola Stebbing for her performance as Queenie in Blackadder, the Snake Bites Back!
Anna Emmins for her performance as Maria in The Sound of Music
Naturally we are so proud to have 7 nominations! The youth performance awards are well deserved by the talented kids who are a such a credit to the Society! They all work so hard at rehearsals and, in particular, in Joseph, they had such chemistry between them on stage, especially Morgan and Matty who worked so well together in their roles. Both are very intelligent young actors with natural charisma on stage. Eilidh, not only appeared on stage, but did warm ups for the younger children before each performance. Her personality is so lovely on and off stage and this was obviously noted by the reviewer. All three of them sing beautifully.
Nicola has played the comic role of Queenie twice now and was brilliant each time. Her nomination is for the performance of Queenie in Blackadder that we did at The Guild Hall in July 2018.
Anna Emmins was born to play Maria! She acted and sang to professional standard according to the audiences who saw her.
We are also so pleased that our two musicals have been nominated as well. Audiences also seemed to enjoy them as they gained standing ovations at the performances.
We all look forward to the Award Ceremony which takes place at The Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park on Saturday 14th September 2019.
