100 Years Old!!

Our Society is officially 100 this year!!!  Berwick Operatic Society was formed in 1920 performing our first production HMS Pinafore in April 1921.  To mark this momentous achievement we were planning a series of events through the year however due to the spread of Covid-19 and ongoing restrictions we have now had to put most of these on hold.
We are hoping to hold a centenary birthday party towards the end of the year and details will be published as soon as we are able.  This is likely to be combined with an Exhibition of photographs and memorabilia from the past 100 years.
Cameron Robertson, local photographer and researcher, is producing a commemorative book that will be available to buy and will be a lovely souvenir for anyone involved with the Society over the years.

Locally Produced Shows

All our main shows are performed locally at The Maltings Theatre.  In the last twenty years, we have performed many stage favourites, our most recent productions being, The Wizard of Oz, 9 to 5, Oliver!, Made in Dagenham and The Sound of Music.  In the last 2 years we have started a popular youth section who have performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Fame.  We are members of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) and won 6 awards in 2019 including best production for ‘The Sound of Music’ and best youth production for ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.
